Selling an '00 Taurus and buying a '99 Camry?
I'm thinking of selling my 2000 Ford Taurus and buying a 1998 or 1999 Toyota Camry. I could probably get about $2000 for my Taurus, and I'd spend about $4000 on the Camry.
My Taurus runs and only has 130,000 miles on it. But I've had tons of trouble with my Taurus, and from what I hear, Camrys are far more reliable than any Ford of that era. I just have trouble shelling out the money for a car that is 15 years old.
I'm currently looking at a '99 with 100,000 miles and a '98 with 98,000 miles. Each one is selling for around $4,000. Would it be a dumb idea to sell the Taurus and buy a Camry, even if it's 15 years old? Here's the ad for the '98.

I drive the hell out of my camry. Change the oil, buy tires, do occasional maintenance, good to go.
Not much of an improvement. An old car is an old car. No matter what you do.
Many e\people have troubels with cars due to their auto lack of knowledge or even BAD advice! TOYTOAS are engieneered VERY WEEL with high srtandards by peoplle that CARE about youa and how their cars are perceived! The TAURUS is NOT a bad car but susceptible to BAD ADVICE! I had a used TAURUS and LOVED IT for it's 30 MPG daily driving, COMFORT and it. Ability to FEEL like a BMW on the road! IT RUSTED AWAY where they put RUST PREVENTATIVE chemicals in it! (LOL) The TAURUS rtrans was co engineered by FORD and GM people and was tested out very well! NEARLY All JAPANESE cars use AISIN automatics or AISIN WARNER Ones! LEXUS and INFINITI currently use ZF German trannies! Older CAMRY require TIMING BELTS but thankfully they are NOT interference fit engines like older HONDAS were! IF BELT breaks it does NOT usually bend any valves! HONDAS are bit thriftier with gas, but the CAMRY cared for well can last to 300k miles and more with TIRE and BRAKE PAD changes! I wodu lkeep the TAURUS but have it CHECKED for possible issues! IT is NOT a bad car at all! They will NEVER need engine seals, NEVER use oil and may NEVER even need front wheel bearings! ISSUES arise froM NEGLECT and the use of BAD OILS! USING MOBIL ONE 0W-30 will make it last a LOT LONGER and getting the trans fluid changed by FORD will get you an extended warranty on it! He CAMRY may need the EXACT SAME services! People that do NOT understand their cars are EASILY misled and overcharged for things! The TAURUS won many awards and patents over the years. IF the TAURUS still looks good, I would keep it! IT may even be cheaper to insure as well! BYE NOW!
- Are there any 2014.5 Toyota Camry's? I learned and do know that there was a Ford Mustang which was a thing in the past for years with a or.5. Are there any cars labeled as 2014.5's?
- If Ford is the best selling brand in the US, then why is Ford stock only selling for: $12.58 today? Since Ford is such a popular brand, you'd think the stocks would be selling for a lot more! It seems like it would be selling for about $5,000 per share. What is affecting Ford to make the stock be so low? In 2007, I remember it was at $11.00/share. It has gone up a little over the past 10 years, but not significantly. Why?
- What is the best used car to purchase, Camry, Corolla, or Fusion? Around 2015-2017? Looking for a newer used car, and I just can't decide. I keep hearing Fords suck, but then again they're rated high in the magazines. And Toyota's are great, but how can I decide between a Camry or a Corolla? It. Just me, no family, but I like storage space, I know the corolla is smaller, but it's bigger than my older camry!
- Looking to get a used car around 2014-2015, Camry, Corolla, or Fusion Hybrid? I had a 2008 camry hybrid but some lady totaled it. Loved that car, but I always thought it was a little too big, although the storage space was great. Now I'm looking to get a new one, I like all three… I don't want another hybrid really, but the Ford Fusion Hybrid looks real nice with better gas mileage than my Camry hybrid did…
