My car is a 2001 Ford Taurus. It acts like it wants to stall when I'm stopped and just idling?

17 year old car - probably has a clogged catalytic convertor, depending on how many miles and what kind of maintenance has been done on it the air filter might need to be replaced, spark plugs might be shot. Probably needs an idle-air control valve.

It needs a full service. If everything else seems OK, increase the tickover stop.

So take it to your mechanic.

You need a scan tool to check the idle air control motor to see if the PCM is commanding it to control the idle.
Have you cleaned your throttle body already?
