Dome light bulb is too small?

I bought some LED bulbs for my Ford Taurus. They work but the bulbs are a little too small. The ends barely touch the metal contacts in my dome light assembly. They are loose, but still illuminate well. Could this be dangerous? (Causing a fire or electric short, etc?)

Uhm, it's working, but Is there a problem? Maybe not with the car.

Bend the contacts further out before inserting the bulb.

Bubs are not expensive… The Owners Manual will list the proper size for each application, so just buy the correct ones.

If they barely touch, it is not a complete circuit so that is one issue. There's no chance for a short with that. The difference between an l921 and an l194 is a small resistance and size.

  • What's wrong with my 2002 Ford Mustang ABS light bulb? I own a 2002 Ford Mustang and recently I was replacing my ABS light bulb but the bulb I put in won't work. I turn the car on and let it run it's self test and the ABS light doesn't turn on. It won't turn on during self-test or after, it's as if the ABS light bulb is pulled out but I just put a new one in there? And the old bulb doesn't work either now. Do I need a new bulb? Or when a bulb is removed does it break the speedometer? Do I need a new speedometer now?
