No, but it seems easier. I drop em out the bottom. I believe those will also come out the top. I also think there might just be enough room to separate the engine and trans but you might have to shift the motor as well, so your not saving anything. I also don't think the trans will come out the wheel well unless the kframe is lowered like 6 inches or so.

Pretty much, it is easier and quicker to pull the the whole engine/transaxle out than to pull either one separately, on front-wheel drive cars.

You need engine support to hold engine in place and then pull frame off to get transmission out. Or you can pull the whole assembly and remove the transmission from the engine your choice
