Will a 1995 ford explorer 40 motor fit in a 1991 40 ranger, with four wheel drive?
It should, both used the 4.0L OHV V6. And back then the Ranger and Explorer shared most mechanical bits. The only thing that might be an issue is the transmissions, the Ranger uses a hydraulically controlled A4LD and the 1995 Explorer uses an electronically controlled 4R44E. The ECU/PCM on the Explorer engine will expect a signal from the transmission, which on the Ranger isn't electronically controlled.
