Truck is overheating. I think?

This is probably gonna sound stupid, but my 1993 ford ranger has no working temp guage, and I just got it running good after setting for 8 months. I drove it about 2 miles on a test drive and then pulled back into my drive and talked to someone with it idling for about 15 minutes. I then drove it home and parked it. After I turned it off, I heard it kinda gurgling in the radiator. I popped the hood and it was perculating into the overflow tank. It sounded like it was boiling. Is it overheating? Probably so… Right?

That's exactly what the tank is for.
When the coolant heats, it expands.
When the system cools, the coolant will be sucked back in.

Check the fluid levels, check the water pump & put in a new thermostat.

That looks normal. But really you are rolling the dice here. Put an aftermarket temp gauge immediately. It will be very much cheaper that a blown head gasket or worse a bent crankshaft.

  • Replaced cylinder heads and head gaskets, but car is still overheating? 97 Ford Taurus, replaced the cylinder head and head gaskets. Car started fine and we let it run for a while before taking it out for a test drive. After about ten minutes the car started to overheat again, coolant came out and steam came from under hood. We also replaced the thermostat. What other possibilities are there?
  • What do you think is wrong with my truck? I've a 2000 Ford Ranger and today for the first time it gave me trouble starting up. I had to crank it like three times before it actually started. The check engine light is on but I put coolant(and water) in it yesterday so it's not the coolant
  • Vehicle overheating/ AC stops blowing? I have a 1996 ford ranger and it recently started giving me this issue. In park, my AC blows fine, but when I take off it'll stop blowing all together and my truck will start overheating. My AC will kick on from time to time and blow for a couple seconds, but when I give it the gas, it'll go back to not blowing at all.
  • My 2000 Ford Ranger 6 Cyl 3.0 L has been overheating. Pretty sure its a radiator problem but odd symptoms? Truck exhaust will puff moderate amount of white smoke (every now n again) on cold startup but will subside after engine warming up.Truck "Was" overheating until i put more coolant in but realised cap was steaming along with coolant reservoir (reservoir was also bubbling). So i bought a new radiator cap. I got a safety cap and after installing I drove a little and engine temp goes to red really fast. What could it be? Thermostat? Water pump? Blown head gasket?
