Yes, HER insurance will go up big time, just about as much as yours would because you must be added as a named-insured driver. And, she may need to file an SR22 with you on her policy. Sorry, but that's the price you pay for being a dumbass. It will be 5 years before your insurance is reasonable again - if you behave.

Yes, it is your driving record that raises the insurance rate. You are now considered ahigh risk driver on any policy.

Yes

Of course it will, you will be considered a high risk driver for many years to come.

Does your mom have an insurable interest in the 1990 Ford Ranger? She better, otherwise she will not be eligible to have the truck insured.

Yes, it will. Even if the registration is under your mom's name, she still has to list you on her insurance as a driver, and your driving record is going to be an issue.

Yes, mommy will pay dearly. I'd kick my kid's but outta the house if that happened to me.

Your insurance is going to be high just because of your age. The DWI fine has been paid to the cops. That was not a claim made against insurance so they don't even know… Or care. Your insurance would be HIGHER if you were not under your mom's name insurance plan… Just because of your age and that does not go down until after the age of 25. Actually it will spike higher at 19-25 as this is the age most accidents happen with this age group of people(insurance use historical statistics to make that determination) These are the years YOU ARE WORKING JUST TO PAY INSURANCE. We ALL did before you, as this has been going on since the age of the automobile… So a long time.

" if I'm under my moms name and if she puts the truck under her name?" this amounts to insurance fraud.

Yup, it will go up. You've got a fresh DWI on your record, remember? That puts the insurance premiums up no matter what.

If you're thinking Mom can just switch the title to her name and add the truck to her policy with no questions asked, you're wrong. They're going to ask who will be driving this added truck, because they never forget to ask that question. Because they know that trick, because they're not stupid.

If you're thinking Mom can just lie and say she's the only driver in the house, you'd be wrong there too. Every insurance contract in the world has a clause in it that says if the insured (your mom) commits any misrepresentation (lying) or non-disclosure (hiding the truth) with the required information, the whole contract is declared null and void. Null and void means the insurance company doesn't have to cover anything at all, and they're deadly serious about that clause.

You got f**ked up, you decided to drive while f**ked up, and you got caught. There's no magic loop hole to get you out of paying for your decision.

Many people here are missing one very important fact. Insurance rates are NOT set on who owns a vehicle but on who ther principal driver(s) will be.
Rates are based on driver(s) and N OT on who O W N S the truck so putting the truck in Mom's name or anybody Else's name won't change your insurance cost one cent, unless you lie to the insurance company and tell them that Mom (or someone else) drives the truck and is the principal driver. If you tell the truth and tell them that YOU will be the principal driver the rate will be based on you and on your record(s) and where YOU live and where YOU drive, etc.
If you lie and tell them Mom is the principal driver and find out it is really you, (they will find out) they can and will deny any claim. If that happens, all the premiums you have ever given them will be like throwing money down a deep hole.

NEVER, NEVER lie to an insurance company… NEVER!
