Four in an empty engine and one in the new oil filter - Five.
Depends on the engine, there were several available. The 4.9 I6, The 302, the 351W, the 460, and the 7.3L diesel (Could be the 6.9L diesel, but I think 1987 was the switch over year).
So could be as little as 5 quarts to I want to say around 11 for the diesel.

Returning home I parked the truck and four hours later when the truck was cooled i turned on well except the pressure was low and only lasted another 20 minutes turned on and off since that day remains the same. Not heated truck someone can tell me what's going on I can do?
