Organic chemistry problem?

Please help, I have absolutely no idea what to do. I thought X was 3-Chloro-2-methylhexane and Y was 2-Bromo-2-methylhexane but it says I'm wrong.

Compounds X has the formula C7H15Cl; Y is C7H15Br.
X undergoes base-promoted E2 elimination to give a single alkene product Z. Y likewise reacts under similar conditions to give a single alkene product that is isomeric with Z
Catalytic hydrogenation of Z affords 3-ethylpentane.
X readily reacts in SN2 fashion with sodium iodide in acetone. Y does not undergo a similar SN2 reaction. Propose structures for X and Y.

X Must be 1-chloro-2-ethylpentane since only one alkene can form.
Y Is 2-bromo-2-ethylpentane. Both compounds must have this skeleton to give the hydrogenation product noted. Both compounds are consistent with the reactivity with nucleophiles.

  • Car acceleration problem and idle problem. The car is a 2003 Ford Taurus? . When the car is running and in parked its making a loud consisted rev noise. However the rpm needle thingy is not moving. when i'm in drive the car acclerates on its own with the speed ever increasing. i did some googling and learned that it can be the TPS sensor or the idle air intake valve, among a million other possiblities.

After a few minutes the "door ajar' alarm starts going off but the door ajar light on the board doesn't light up. It does work because if I open the door, it lights up. I try closing the door again and make sure cap on gas tank is closed but door ajar alarm still goes off. It runs for a few mminutes while I'm driving. What's the problem here?
  • I too having similar problem with car radio it's not asking for code but not picking up stations? It shows the radio station number but doesn't tune into it I've tried all sorts you can her it searching for station but just doesn' find it. Tried menu button TA settings even manually. It did work just recently bought car haven't got manual I think I pressed something & lost channels. It's RDS 5000 ford ka radio any suggestions?
