My 2003 Ford Lightning won't turn on it makes a clicking sound? - 1
The clicking is typically from the starter solenoid and indicates a low voltage condition or a failing starter. You should make sure the battery cables are clean and free or debris. Then try to jump start the truck - if it starts take it to your local auto parts place and have them test the battery and alternator.
9/10 times the battery has gone bad.
Replace the battery.
Big Fords are famous for corroding the INSIDE of the positive ( red wire ) battery cable clamp. Pull that clamp off the battery, then use a small pocket knife blade to scrape both the inside of the clamp & the sides of the battery post. If that helps, Most all car parts stores carry a small wire brush designed just to do that job.
- Truck makes clicking/rattling noise when in 4X4? I have to use an old '97 Ford Ranger with an auto tranny and auto locking hubs at my workplace. When you turn the electronic switch to 4X4 low or high and accelerate it makes a harsh rattling/clicking noise but the truck will still move. Does this mean the transfer case is shot and I will have to live with 2 wheel drive? Since I sometimes have to drive on grass trails it would be nice to get this thing fixed if it's a simple fix.
- 2001 Ford Ranger clicks once then won't turn over, and when key is turned off, it begins making a clicking relay noise under the dash? - 1 I've had this happen before, and the last couple times I just undid the battery and put it back in and it started right up. The battery has a charge, the alternator is new, and I tried jumping the battery just in case. So I know it's not that. I'm thinking it could be something in the ignition switch because sometimes I have to lift up on the shifter knob for it to register that it's in park and turn over. Any ideas?
- Noise works, but when I push it, it also makes a clicking/rattling noise? I have a 2012 Ford Focus, and while the horn works, and sounds (as it normally does), when I press it, it also makes a weird clicking/rattling noise (also kinda like a jingle sound - hard to describe). It sounds as if it's coming from behind the center console/under the center console, but it's hard to tell. Any ideas what it could be? With any answers - any advice on how to fix it? Question should say HORN Works
- My '04 Ford focus makes a clicking sound when I turn the key, what could it be? It's an '04 Ford focus, 4 cylinder 2.3L engine, I got a new battery about 2 months ago. 2 times recently I've gone to start my car in the morning and it makes a weird clicking sound then kicks on. It has been a little cold when it happens and I've noticed the headlights and dashboard lights sometimes dim and go back to normal when I have them on.
