Would like black matte racing stripes on my black mustang, how to go about this?

I called up a local bodyshop and got a quote, it'd be 410 (installation fee+kit), however he said it'd be cheaper if I bought a ford kit online. I looked at the official ford site… And it's ridiculously expensive. However, I noticed on places like american muscle or ebay it's a lot cheaper. I'm just skeptical of the quality, is the thing. I don't want to do it myself because I barely have the time though it'd be a fun project, and I want it to look Really good.

Does anyone have any advice on going about this?

If you can get accurate measurements from an online source, there's one route you can go that won't cost but $30-$40 bucks and 1 Saturday worth of your time. Its called plastidip and comes in a spray can.It has the exact matte finish and appearance you're looking for too.Plus if you make a mistake, it will peel right off.Another online company that I believe makes stripe kits is Cervinis.com and its a very well known company with great parts.e.g.-A hood stripe kit for a 07-09 model is only $89 bucks. Its a very well liked company by the Mustang community.Another place you can check is your local sign company, if you have one. Not sure where you live but just check the online yellow pages for sign companies and vinyl sign companies. They can easily cut a stripe kit out for you. Just bring your car to them and they'll take measurements then start cutting.Shouldn't cost much at all.SignsNow is a well known company in my area of Nashville

Another route is a vinyl stripe. If you aren't exactly sure what you want, get a vinyl 'tape' strip. That way, if it just doesn't look right & you want to change the size/placement/color, you can peel it off with no paint damage & try another one. It will weather quicker, but after you get it perfect, you could have a body shop paint one permanently.

  • Racing stripes that'd look good on an 02 Ford Taurus? I've got an 02 Ford Taurus with some scratches on the hood. I know it's a relatively old sedan so stripes would look weird, but I want to cover up the scrapes and whatnot. If anyone could link me to some sort of decal that they thing would look cool, and not make me look like a complete tool, that'd be awesome.
  • Where can I buy these stripes? I have a 2014 Ford Mustang and I'm just wondering where I could find these stripes? A website or could a body shop do them for me? Should I but some black stripes and then order red pinstripe tape? I see these on some cars but it's rare and it makes the stripes pop when it has that red outline. What can I do? • Matte Black vs Gloss Black Vinyl stripes? So I have a Ingot Silver 2014 Ford Mustang and was wondering what stripes would look the best on it. I heard that gloss shows every little imperfection (scratches) while with matte black, you can't wax them. I'm leaning more on matte black just because I know that seeing the little scratches on the gloss black over time will really irritate me.
