Will 5W-30 oil work for my 2006 Mustang GT?

Ford recommends 5W-20 oil, but when I researched online, everyone said that 5W-30 was better for those who "drive spiritedly"
I Deffinetely fall under the spirited driver category.
Should I still go with what Ford recommends, or will 5W-30 be better? Alternatively, will 5W-30 cause any harm yo my engine if I use it instead of 5W-30?

It will be fine

A thicker oil can be a good idea for an older engine, since it can be somewhat worn out.

The 30 weight will sustain viscosity better, tend to cling to parts better, under high temperatures/ harder driving moreso than the 20 when you are in the spirited mood. Just don't mix the two oils together, ever.

It will be fine and do no harm at all. It will be slightly thicker when hot, that's all. Don't worry about it.

5w-30 won't hurt. 5w-20 is for snail-drivers.

  • Should I get a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT or 2006 Chevy Silverado Z71? Which truck would be better… I need a tough truck to haul around kids (both are 4-door), a little off-road driving around the farm and fishing, pulling a 4k to 5k trailer. Which engine is better, Fords 5.4L or Chevys 5.3L? Is one transmission better than the other? Which will give me the least or most problems? All pros and cons appreciated, thank you!
  • 2006 Ford Freestar or 2006 Honda Odyssey? I'm about to purchase a used vehicle.Im trying to get either an odyssey or a freestar. I'm thinking the odyssey is more but thats not an issue. I'm just looking for room and something that can handle long highway miles. Any suggestions
