Why can't Ford Mustangs be front wheel drive?

Added (1). What would happen if a Mustang was front wheel drive?

Most high performance sports cars are rear wheel drive. A RWD car spreads the weight of its drivetrain more evenly front-to-rear and thus makes it more stable at higher speeds.

Because we aren't communists and this is America.

You should be ashamed for asking such a question.

Muscle cars are over powered by design. On front wheel drive vehicles the weight transfer under heavy acceleration is backwards away from the front wheels. Most muscle car drivers want the heavy surge of acceleration off the line, front whee ldrive just spins the wheels if over powered.

Because nobody will buy a FWD Mustang.

Because that model was designed to be RWD. Seems pretty obvious dude.

Too much power with a mustang.

Ford once proposed a FWD Mustang for generation four, the outcry from Mustang fans -- not only was it wrong-wheel drive, but you couldn't get a V8 into it -- that they shelved the idea entirely,. The FWD car they came with was sold for two product cycles was called the Ford Probe, and it was basically a cousin to the Mazda MX-6 coupe.

Sports cars are never front wheel drive
