My car makes a tapping sound that comes and goes?
The other day I was driving my car and I felt a jolt then a loud knocking sound starting coming from the top of my engine. I checked my oil and I was really low so I parked the car out oil in the car. The starts up just fine but when I driving it makes a loud knocking sound that comes and goes. Like when I speed up it stops when I slow down it starts back up again. But it comes and goes as I'm driving. Does anyone have and idea on what it could be.
My car is a 2000 ford mustang.
Very low oil and then a knocking sound could indicate major engine damage. Did you miss the warning light? They will come on before any damage is done. The rod and/or crankshaft bearings could be fried.
Well, alot depends on the audible sound. If it sounds like a hammer hitting granite, then its a bad rod bearing that could spin any time. If its more of a tap tap tap coming from the top of the engine, then it is a lifter tapping, which indicates a hydaulic lifter isn't pumping up and making some valve chatter. I'll tell you an old mechanics trick to see if it is a rod bearing… Now take what I'm about to suggest with caution. You can pull a plug wire one at a time and listen for the sound to show. If you have a bad rod bearing, when you get to the cylinder that's got a worn bearing and you pull the wire, the sound should get really loud. If you perform this on all cylinders and do not notice any increase in sound, then its probably a lifter tap. Also, I should warn you that this method can shock the **** our of you. What I do is pull a plug wire with car off, start it and listen, then turn back off and put plug wire back on and move the the next one and so on. Anyways, good luck.

I have a 1989 mustang gt motor and I'm making it carbureted and I'm looking for any vehicle with a 302 that carries a 4b. I'm going to a junkyard where they don't help with finding vehicles, so it would be helpful to know what vehicles only have a 302 with a 4bc, that way I can look it up on the website and know exactly where its at.

Then comes back when I take my foot off the clutch I drive a ford KA 2008 I had the clutch changed in May 2014 I have a feeling tho the guy didn't change it because he was taking ages to print me a receipt saying the printer needed ink I dunno I found it suspicious The gears are a little stiff too Any help? - Wheels makes sound when turning? I recently purchased a Ford focus electric 2013, when I turn the wheels make a sound similar to when the car is on a hill and the wheels are struggling, or its in gravel and it's a hill, I don't know if I explained right, English isn't my language, any help?
- My '04 Ford focus makes a clicking sound when I turn the key, what could it be? It's an '04 Ford focus, 4 cylinder 2.3L engine, I got a new battery about 2 months ago. 2 times recently I've gone to start my car in the morning and it makes a weird clicking sound then kicks on. It has been a little cold when it happens and I've noticed the headlights and dashboard lights sometimes dim and go back to normal when I have them on.
