Can my idea work? Car buying?

So, I want to buy a 2012 Ford Mustang V6 base model. I know… Income the comments about masculinity. Whatever. I'm in the snow belt of Ohio (I'm aware its not the safest option) and I wanted to get snow tires for it as well. Now here's my idea/question. Can I use the trade value of my current car toward steel rims and snow tires with the dealership or would I have to sell it privately or for scrap metal? I will be putting a cash down payment as well.

That would be up to the dealership. Best to ask them.

Forget trying to make a deal for steel rims at a dealership. Buy 4 (or 5 ) NEW, no-rust steel rims from a place like J.C. Whitney and have the snow tires mounted on them. You can take them off when the weather gets nicer… Like MAY, and just load the other wheels back on the car. In Ohio, and points north, I'd add extra coats of clear to the new rims and try and fight off the rust as long as possible. When the tires are balanced, I'd insist that the weights are mounted to the inside of the wheels so that your wheel covers will fit tighter and they won't chip the new paint off the road side of the rims so the rust shows more.
J.C. Will have wheel covers for that, too… Or drive to a junkyard in Georgia or further south and find a set of non-rusty old Ford wheel covers.

Parts departments don't generally take trade in of used parts.

As for snow tires, the best you can afford! Buy four of them, one each corner. Most drivers manuals tell you to buy four, but owners and drivers tend to not pay attention to this little item. Because they tend to think only about loosing traction. Do it out of the dealership, and notice it may be costly for insurance in your area, check the total mpg & ins costs before buying - insripoff.blogspot.it
