2012 mustang v6 premium vs dodge challenger sxt?

What's up everyone, I'm currently driving a 2006 bmw 325i and I'm not happy at all, the maintenance cost of this car is ridiculous. Very unreliable for me. I'm looking to switch to an American car, and I'm split between 2012 mustang v6 premium vs 2012 dodge challenger sxt. I'm interested in the V6 only because I'm a college student and I can't afford the gas prices that the V8 will cost me at this time. I absolutely love the look of the challenger but I love the performance of the mustang, this is why I'm split between the two.

I'm looking for the best commuter car, comfort, reliability, cheap to maintain, and power. The 215hp bmw just wasn't enough for me I want something faster but still affordable. Which car is better the dodge or the ford? Thank you guys

Also one thing that's bothering me about the
-mustang is I feel limited as far as the top speed, around 115? With the risk of the driveshaft exploding? Doesn't sit right in my stomach even though I shouldn't be going that fast anyways.
-challenger one thing that bothers me is I feel like it's too big, kind of like driving a boat? I want something relatively small like the 3 series, where I could switch lanes easily and not have to maneuver 20 times when backing out tight areas

Hi so you have found out what we allay about old BMW and Mercedes cars fine when new, however it is a modern car with a design life of 8 years. So when it has mileage and age not on it's side it starts to become a money pit. So why go from a car that is likely as you say feels more like a boat and wallows allover the road.
as it is a 2012 model why not look at alternatives in the same price range so look at some of the japanese cars they will surprise you especially when it comes to reliability.

Those are both great cars. But the mustang is going to be the better overall pick. It's lighter then the challenger, good fuel mileage, handles extremely well, and is very comfortable. I'm pretty sure the drive shaft issue was only on the 2011s, and it snapped at 135mph. And since you're a college, and you're concerned about mpg… You probably shouldn't be going 115mph? Hope this helps good luck.

2012 Mustang V6 Premium

Yes, you really need a car that goes over 115 on the street without the driveshaft exploding, you are one intelligent human being.
