What kind of engine does my 1979 ford f100 have?

I just turn 16 and was handed down a 1979 ford f100 2wd truck but I don't know what engine it has. I think it is a 351 Cleveland but I've heard that they stopped making Cleveland s in 1974 or something like that so if anyone can help or give some input please let me know

The 1979 Ford F-100 is equipped with a 235.5-cubic inch, fuel-injected V8 engine. This six-cylinder powerplant produces 230 ft.-lbs.Of torque at 6,000 RPM. The bore is 4.0 inches, and the stroke is 3.9 inches.

It's not a 351 Cleveland, unless someone swapped engines.

Check the valve covers.
8-bolt valve covers = Cleveland.
6-bolt valve covers = Windsor.

Hi so that was before they asked Mazda to make engines for them as they where unreliable.

It could have a 302 a 351 windsor or a 351 modifed or 400 the 351 m and 400 are in the same engine family the 351 m is almost the same as the clevend but has a tall deck height ( that is center line of the crank shaft to the top of the engine block) if it is 351 m or 400 the thermostat housing will bolt to the block left of the distributor and not on the intake manifold there should be a sticker on the valve cover that will tell you the engine size
