Is my ford crown Vic a v6 or v8? And what is my top speed supposed to be?
I have a 99 ford crown Vic police interceptor. I always believed my car was a 4.6L v6. But when I was looking up cars online. It said crown Vic was a v8. So of course I typed in Google a 99 crown Vic police interceptor and it still says 4.6L v8.
Open the hood and locate the spark plugs, then count them.
Look under the hood. Count spark plug wires.
See that lever or pull tab underneath the steering column to the left? It's called the HOOD RELEASE. Pull on it, get out of the car, and raise the hood. Now, how many SPARK PLUG WIRES do you count? As for top speed, it probably will be at most 130, even though it has the "police interceptor" package.
The 1999 ford crown Vic police interceptor has always a 4.6l 2 vale per cylinder single overhead cam V8, never a 6 cylinder engine. Someone could have replaced that v8 engine by v6 engine but that wouldnt be a ford crown vic of any sort anymore as asked about in the question.
a good idea is to count the sparkplugs, normally a v8 has 8 sparkplugs, a v6 has 6 sparkplugs, the sparkplugs are all in one box and each plug has a cable to it, its obvious when looking onto the engine bay.
It is a V8 ford never put a V6 in the older Crown Vics. Also you are electronically limited to 128 mph.
V8
when you floor it, it should go GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAA
All crown vics have 4.6L V8s
