Is it difficult driving a van?
I currently own a Ford Sable, but I want a bigger car. Me and my friend wish to travel for cheap, and we looked into van, specifically camper vans. I was looking into a Chevy Astro van, but they are quite large, and seems easily rollable. I also live in Minnesota, where the roads can turn dangerous. So I was wondering if a van is a safe and easy idea, or I should stick with smaller vehicles.
Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable, I presume - they are the same car. Those do very well in snow; all vans, do poorly. AWD vans are about as good as the Taurus/Sable and FWD vans are not terrible, but the others have a severe case of RWD trouble in the snow; the rear end slides from side to side and it doesn't want to go anywhere but downhill.
Van is just a vehicle
How about a jeep patriot, lots of room inside plus pretty good on gas.
No it isn't.
Living in Minnesota I would suggest a front wheel drive van or perhaps even a 4x4 van. The Dodge line-up are all front wheel drive with some AWD models. They are not that easy to roll because of the weight mostly being close to the ground. However, I have never seen theirs as a camper van.
I would not recommend a Chevy Astro as they are rear wheel drive and a little top heavy.
Toyota makes some nice FWD vans as well.
But personally I would stick to the Dodge line-up because they are cheap to buy, dependable and I'm 6'3" and have plenty of room in them.
- What makes working on volvos difficult? Everyone who works on cars for a living (that i've talked to) has told me that Volvos are HORRENDOUS to work on. Does that apply to just the older models or the post-Ford buyout too? And what makes them different/more difficult than any other car?
- Solar panel on Ford E150 van JMC Tiara Package. Van came w own solar setup but its old and solar panel is tiny. Upgradn to 100w panel? Can I use the cables and solar meter etc (setup van came with) to power the renogy 100w panel? Or do I need to get bigger cables etc
- How difficult is it to change a clutch? I've replaced head cams/gaskets but I've never worked on transmissions. Would it be much harder to replace a clutch? If there's a manual available I'm pretty sure I can do it. I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 2.3 5 speed
- Gears in my manual transmission Ford Ranger are difficult to shift when the engine is running. Why is this? This usually happens in the morning or if I have not driven in a while usually when its cold out. Once the car gets warmed it gets easier.
