I have a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria and occasionally it will not crank and will not start?

Occasionally, my 1998 Ford Crown Vic with a 4.6 liter will not crank and will not start. It only does it when it is hot outside & I have been running the car a while. We have replaced the starter, replaced the battery, replaced the ignition switch and the key. We have also tightened the set screws in the steering column that go to the gear selection lever. When it malfunctions, car will get power to the dash lights and stereo etc. But it will not start. Does not make a noise; not even a click. After it cools down, it will start again. Really odd. Suggestions on where to look?

Faulty starter relay switch is probably 'asking 'the thermostat relay 'Are you too hot to trot?'.

Sounds like your starter solenoid

Fords are famous for corroding the INSIDE of the battery cable clamps. Pop them off & clean both the inside of the clamp & the sides of the battery posts. It take more juice to start a warm engine because there's compression still trapped in two of the cylinders.

REPLACED WIRING HARNESS ALSO. ANY Help WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I had some oil leaking so my husband rinsed off the left side of the car under to hood to get oil off now it will not start it was running great before he did this we have replaced the spark plugs and put a new fuel. Pump in and a fuel pressure sensor new battery it will crank when you turn it over but it will not start. What are we miss in please help
  • I have a 2008 Ford Focus that won't start. It clicks when I turn the ignition but work crank. Got any advice? Also the radio will flicker on and off if I try to turn it on. Car ran fine 2 days ago. Also just put in a new battery.
  • 03 ford focus ZX5 will crank but not start I have a 03 Ford focus ZX5. There was a loss of power to the engine while using the on ramp for a highway. Pulled over for 2 minutes and then it drove fine for 20 miles to my house. Next day started fine and in less than one mile there was loss of power again and then wouldn't move. Shut off engine and now it will not start. Replaced the battery, fuel filter and checked spark plugs.
