I have 1998 Ford Windstar as of now when I put in drive/reverse it won't move. It just revs. The car starts up fine?
It started while I was driving down the road and I pressed the gas to go a little faster and my rpm went up to 4 and went down. I have an automatic too. There's no burnt smell in my transmission fluid stick/tank. I just left the gas station before this happened if that helps. Any ideas? Someone suggest my second/reverse band and I have never heard of it.
Probably time for a rebuilt transmission… Only way to know is to take the vehicle to several transmission shops for their opinions/estimates
You should get a trouble code when you plug in a code reader and that will tell you where the trouble is. It might look like P07xx something, where the "x's" are other numbers. Look that up to narrow down the problem so you can tell what needs fixing.
Try driving in L2 or L1. If it drives, the transmission is likely shot. If it does not, check for trouble codes. Check the fluid. Check the linkage.
The tranny is slipping. Time to get it rebuilt.
Check the transmission fluid level.
- Why doesn't Ford just identify as not an assault victim and move on, just like when you identify as a different gender? After all, if a man can "identify" as a woman despite the actual physical evidence he sees in the mirror every day, it should be a snap to "identify" past something that has no evidence. Stop dodging the question libs - the mechanism you claim allows you to be a different gender despite your years in your physical body should be powerful enough to change your perspective on one moment of your life… Or is the whole thing a fraud?
- Car starts but won't drive? Why? I have a 2003 Ford Taurus its at about 180,000 miles. Ran just fine until today. I was driving with no problems when I came to a stoplight. When the light turned green I pressed on the gas and the RPM meter flew past 4 and stayed there. I barely made it pass the intersection, my car would no longer accelerate. I image you have to press hard for the RPM to go that high. And I definitely wasn't pressing hard. Please I'm in need of advice & feedback!
- What causes a car to jump in reverse when all forward gears are fine? I once owned a 1967 Ford Mustang (sure wish I still had it!) with a 289 ci w/2 bbl and factory 3 speed on the floor. I bought it used with 100k miles. It acted fine in forward gears but when I put it in reverse, It "jumped" as long as I was moving. I changed out the clutch and pressure plate twice but it didn't help. Could it have been that the fly wheel needed balancing (by grinding) or something else?
- My car won't move in drive or reverse? I have a 96 ford thunderbird 4.6L v8 I was going down the road about 40 mph when I heard a deep kind of grinding/screeching noise under my car it was raining so I didn't pay it any mind thought a belt was wet or something but then I pulled into a parking lot and then it started to shake/vibrate and then my rpms went through the roof I could not reverse or drive I thought it could be u-joints or flex plate (btw it was the first time actually driving the car in about a year)
