How do know if a1999 Ford 3.0L V6 SOHC has double overhead cams or not? - 1

By understanding that SOHC stands for Single Over Head Cam. A double would be listed as a DOHC. DUH

SOHC means single overhead cams.

As others have said, SOHC means Single OverHead Cam.

However, what you or others may not have realized is that it has TWO camshafts… One over each of the two heads.

Since Ford did not make a 3.0L SOHC V6 in in 1999, that would sort of rule that out. So your options would've been the OHV Vulcan 3.0L or the Duratec DOHC 3.0L. The Duratec 3.0L does have dual overhead cams, that is it has two camshafts on each of the heads, so four camshafts total.

SOHC stands for SINGLE overhead cam so if you bothered to figure out/understand that much you would all ready know the answer

It will say DOHC, not SOHC.
