Is there a time limit on car recalls?

My 2009 ford fusion has been on recall for 2 years now I think. Takata air bag recall. Ford has been paying for me a rental car for 6 months so far. There's still no remedy. So what happens if it can't be fixed? What can happen if it gets to 2020 with no remedy?

You'd need to talk to the attorney that is handling the lawsuit against either Ford or Takata.

It can be fixed. The remedy is well known. Your dealer should let you know when the parts are available. The biggest delay for this has been shortage of parts. Takata is paying for the rental, so Ford doesn't give a shight how long it takes. Call and see if they can do the job yet and when your car will be finished. My Corolla got this recall work finished a couple of years ago. The actual work only took a couple of hours to complete. You're in line with thousands of others.

There are a lot of people asking that question. The number of faulty airbags is staggering and Takata is going bankrupt trying to pay the cost of replacing them.

Safety related recalls, like airbags, never expire (US answer).

A) Yes, there's a time limit on ALL vehicle recalls.

b) If you bought the car new, then "lemon laws" may apply. If you bought it used, you're SOL unless you initiate a law suite or someone starts a class action suit that you can join as a plaintiff.

It never expires. If you want a different vehicle, sell yoru one vehicle, return the loaner car and buy a different car.

Depends on you… My neighbor had same problem. Two months ago they actually let him have A NEW CAR because he was having to wait so long to. He told them he was going to get a lawyer also and charge then the storage fees for a car he could not drive and it would be at the local rate here of a secure storage which would be approx $75.00 a month for the last year plus insurance etc. If they did not get his car repaired in the next 7 days. He now has a PAID FOR 1027 Dodge Challenger which is like new.

Probably not. But 2 years is a little long. IMO Just disconnect the airbag and always WEAR seatbelts. After all, how many RACE CARS have air bags? ANS=none Seatbelts yes. Most safety items are tested on a track, so air bags is an engineer's dream.
. I mean that would be MY CHOICE. No worse off than the other car that does not have air bags. Seat belts is what saves lives. AB is just "BLING" and added cost.

Hi so you will be offered another car.
