Ford Fusion 09 will not start, battery and alternator is fine

Lately my Ford Fusion 09 will not start if it's too cold outside. To get it to start I would need to leave my keys in the start position then overtime the dashboard light will come up and work. Cranks easily. Radio and lights worked but the dashboard light would only show and airbag symbol only. Mechanic says he does not know what's wrong with it so I would need to take it to a fords dealership. He also say there might be something wrong with the dashboard since he removed it and let it warm inside and put it back and it will start again. Trying not to spend to much money but any help will do.

Ask a Mechanic.

You've got one of those bugs that ONLY ford is going to be able to get out.

Sounds like a bad ground somewhere to me.

Replace the battery terminals. Check the main relay. Check for a bad ground. There has been a recall on most Fords. The ground point that the negative terminal atraches to was painted in the factory. Ignition switch could also be suspect.

  • New alternator and battery but battery still won't charge in my ford explorer 93? My battery wouldnt charge So i just replaced my alternator a few days ago knowing it would fix the problem. It appears that the alternator was not the problem. I've got a brand new alternor and when i check the battery(running car), it just stays on 12.5V and doesn't go up. I tried using it yesterday and it just drained out on me. I tried 3 good batteries already and checked if they charge in my car but they don't. Oh, the alternator came with a volt regulator.
