Which car should I get? Ford Focus vs Mazda3?
I'm going to be buying a new car in the next couple months. I've been looking at ('11 or '12) Ford Focus or ('11 or '12) Mazda 3. I know these cars are very similar. I just don't know which to get!
I need some opinions on them.
Which is better on gas?
best quality?
better on insurance/maintence?
suggestions andand opinions please?
The gas mileage is similar - noting that the 2.5 in the Mazda gets worse mileage than the 2.0. You can look this up. The Mazda is undoubtedly better made, insurance should be about the same (check with your insurance company for rates), and maintenance should be about the same.
One biggie - automatic or manual? The Focus automatic has been a troublesome unit with recalls etc - the manual Focus is a better car.
Bottom line - the Mazda is a better car, but buying used the Focus will be cheaper since they don't hold their value as well, so that could be a plus if you find a nice one that's been well cared for.

I'm not sure how identical or similar they are. But one isn't a ford.
They are virtually the same car.
I would recommend the Mazda only because it has a better track record of reliability and it will hold its value better.
The Ford Focus is also a good car - In fact, it's a nominee for the 2012 North American car of the year.
My wife has a 10 Mazda 3i touring and so far, so good.

I'm 17 so need something good and reliable, but I want it to be nice inside and also drive nicely. HOPEFULLY without insurance raping me - I'll probably get a black box.
