My brakes are making a squeaking and grinding noise when braking. Why?
It's a 2001 Ford Focus
Tire for new brakes
Probably because they need maintenance… Pads replaced, rotors, the works
Brakes are made with a little steel post in the pad that gets exposed as the pad wears. This is a feature to let you know when they are low because you hear it. That metal post is rubbing against the rotor, making a sound, telling you that you need new pads. Usually you still have some life left, but I wouldn't wait very long because at some point they could fail.
It's time to replace them
Probably because the pads are worn out and you've damaged the rotors.
Time for your mechanic to have a look. The pads are definitely worn, perhaps the rotors are also scored.
Probably are running out of brake pad and the caliper is now hitting the rotor.
Time to get a new car.
You see a mechanic to find out what is wrong.
Most likely the brake pads/shoes friction material is completely worn down to nothing.
- My 2008 ford ranger Truck is making a Grinding noise when clutch is engaged/press. What are my options? I attach a youtube video of a different car making the same sound. Is my only option to replace the clutch or can it be adjusted? If anybody could link a repair manual to a 2008 ford ranger that would be awesome. I tried google and torrent sites but had no luck
- Why is my 2003 ford f150 make a.squeaking noise when i turn on the ac? I have a 2003 ford f150 v6 4.2 and when I start it up the serpentine belt squeals, only for about 2 seconds then it stops. The only other time it makes that noise is when I turn on the a/c. I was told it could be the tensioner, but I don't want to just buy the part without getting other opinions.
- Squeaking noise on 1995 Ford Explorer? There's a squeaking noise coming from the front end of my explorer. It only happens while driving. If I'm in park and hit gas nothing happens. Only when I begin to move. Any ideas?
- 2000Ford Fairmont. Why is my front left brakes making a loud grinding noise when i break and accelerate? I drive a 2000 ford Fairmont and about a month back it started making a loud grinding noise when i braked and accelerated. Only when i get to around 70kmp/h the sound goes away. I have taken the wheel off and there were metal shavings surround the rear of the brake calipar and disc. There was also rust powder but i don't think that means much. I'm pretty broke so any cheap options would be most suited
