I have a Ford Focus and all day long people in sports cars try to race me. Why?
Today it was a Camaro and a Mustang. Yesterday it was a Porsche 911. The other day an Evo. Last week it was a guy in a Buggati. Why? Is the Ford Focus seriously that bad *** that these guys just need to take it down a notch? I didn't get this many challenges in my WRX. Does it feel good to beat a car that has no chance? Isn't that a lot like a 12th grader beating up a 6th grader?
They're playing you.
People are probably messing with you unless you have an ST model.
Somebody in a Bugatti tried to race you? YEAH, RIGHT.
Anyone rich enough to own one of those certainly isn't going to waste his time or his gas on a POS (comparatively speaking) like yours.
You have an overactive imagination.
They might think you have the ST model, which still isn't that fast. To me blowing the doors off someone in an economy car for basic transportation does give me a thrill. I have a TL and I beat a lotta premium cars. Mustang, Camaro SS on highway smoked Audi a4 turbo smoked. The TL is fast 150 + tops peed on highway 0-60 somewhere around 6.5 -7.5 seconds. The car loves mid range to upper mid range rpms.
The Ford Focus is the American version of the Honda Civic. Both have the reputation for having teen drivers that like to modify and race them.
Strange. I find it the other way around. I have a classic Porsche 911 I use weekends, and I find everywhere I go I have a Ford Fiesta or Focus right up my tailpipe who comes tearing past at the first (often inopportune) moment, usually 'piloted' by a spotty 18year old with a baseball cap, ski glasses and an attitude. I just smile and let them go - probably to boast to their mates in the pub later that they 'burned off' a Porsche!
- Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.
- Why don't American cars last as long as Japanese cars? My family has owned a Ford Taurus and a Nissan Altima of similar model years. Both cars are still running, but the Taurus has very low mileage (it's a 1999 with only 85,000 miles) and the interior is in horrible condition and the plastics Ford put in have been known for breaking. None of this has happened with the Altima, even though it has more miles. Why?
- Why are some Ford cars (like the Taurus and Focus) such unreliable cars? I'm looking at cars in the $3000 - $4500 range and I'm noticing a decent amount of Ford Taurus's and Focus's and out of all the cars that I see, these are two cars that just seem so unreliable. I test drove a Focus last year and it sounded like something was wrong with the engine.
- Which one of these cars will win in a drag race? 2015 dodge challenger hellcat, 2015 ford mustang gt350, or 2015 z06 corvette? Also, which of these three do you prefer driving?
