2004 Ford Focus cooling fan stays on when ignition is off?
It mainly does this after I have turned on the a/c. I have had to take off the battery cables to keep from draining the battery. Any ideas what is wrong?
Sadly, some designs have fulltime power to the relay for the fan. Hopefully it is just a sticking relay.
Does it stay on indefinitely or just for 15-20 minutes? Some cars keep the fan running even after the ignition is turned off to cool off the engine.
The fan is controlled by a thermostat. It will continue to run until the water temperature has cooled down enough. You shouldn't disconnect the battery but rather let it finish cooling down.
Stuck fan relay.
Some cars, mostly high performance ones, have fans that intentionally stay on for a while after you switch off. I doubt if your Focus is like that. The usual culprit is the fan relay which is wrongly feeding power to the fan continuously.
- How long does a cooling fan stay on for before kicking back off? I've noticed that my 2005 ford mustang cooling fans stay on for a long period of time but they turn off when i shut off the car why is this happening i really didn't notice it till now
- Car fan is really loud when stationary and just after the car is switched off? I've got a 2010 Ford KA which I've had for 2 years in the last few days I noticed a fan comes on when I'm stationary and it's really loud for about a minute when I turn the engine off. Does anyone know what this could be? Themostat was broken - phew! Not a hug expense to correct!
- How to remove ignition switch Cylinder from 98 ford crown victoria if the ignition cylinder is stuck? I have a 98 crown Victoria. And i used a wrong key by mistake yesterday and now my actual key won't work. I've tried removing the ignition lock cylinder but any video i watch on Youtube tells me to turn the key to replace ignition lock cylinder but i can't do that because its jammed. I've tried jiggling the steering wheel and turning the key but no luck. Pretty sure its the ignition lock cylinder but i can't get the damn thing out without turning the key
- Locked steering wheel and ignition in 2004 ford focus? Would I get a locksmith to help solve this? And what's the cost looking like? It's happened multiple times and I was able to fix it myself but no matter what I do and try it won't unlock, I think it may be a problem with the cylinder in the ignition
