Does anyone have experience with this automotive industry position?

I have an interview set up in a week for this position with a local auto dealership. Below I have posted the job posting. I'm trying to get an idea/gameplan of what to expect. The recruite was very broad on the phone. Does anyone have any experience with this? What does it sound like to you? Does it sound like a car salesman position?

About the Job
Career Opportunity- We're expanding our Ford sales staff in the Memphis metropolitan area. This department is very fast paced and requires high energy. You will be the essential link between one of the finest automobile brands, the dealership and the customer. We're looking for a dependable, friendly, patient, enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with outstanding communication skills, a positive attitude and an excellent work ethic. This is a great opportunity for people looking for an exciting career in the automotive industry. This is a position with an outstanding compensation package.

Requirements- Applicant must possess strong people skills. Hospitality, Insurance and/or Retail experience is a plus. We provide training and there's no prior sales experience required. Must be flexible to work on weekends and must achieve performance goals.

The job is for a COMMISION ONLY CAR SALESREP.

Commission only means, if you sell a vehicle, you get paid. No salary, not even minimum wage.

Most cars are sold on Weekends and at the end of the month, so you will be on your feet 12 hours a day, Saturday and Sunday.

If you are motivated and outgoing, you dress well, smell good, then go for it. Every sales rep working that day is your competition.

Go ahead and interview. But don't take the job (the chances are 90% that they will offer you the job) until you take a good luck around the showroom. If they have 8 salesmen working, they overhire. They might only need 2 people in the new car area… But they have 8.

You won't be able to make a living and they will let you go. They have to pay you a salary (or draw) and they won't want to keep paying you.

Yes, it is a car salesman position! Do you still want to go on the interview?

If you want the job, study the Ford automobile lineup at ford.com. Go into the interview and be very conversational. This interview is about making a connection with the interviewer because you will have to make a connection with people that are car shopping. Also, you will be expected to make phone calls drumming up leads.

Successful car sales people do not sit in the dealership waiting for people to walk in. You will constantly be making calls and networking to find people that are interested in buying Ford cars & trucks.
