TICKING COMING FROM MANIFOLD IN FORD F 150?

Exhaust manifolds are typically made of cast iron and will make ticking noises as they expand and cool. You normally don't hear the ticking noises when they expand because the engine is running, but you can often hear them tick when the cool down because the engine is turned off. It's a normal occurrence.

  • Ticking noise coming from engine? - 1 I have a 1978 Ford Ranchero and there's a ticking noise coming from the passenger side In engine. And this car was given to me and I had my camshaft, timing chain set, and all 16 lifters changed what can this noise be? Could it be from a bad rocker arm? And what can I do to quiet this noise. I'm broke so I can't do any further expensive repairs
  • Low compression cause ticking? On my 2005 v6 ford mustang, i have a problem. All of the cylinders are at about 185-195psi except 2. 2 of them are at 170psi and both of those make a ticking noise when the engine is on and both of their spark plug gaps close when i start. Don't tell me i have the wrong plugs because i don't. I have tried 3 new OEM plugs on each and the same thing happens. What is wrong and how do i fix it?
