My 1996 f-150 dies when going down highway?

I have a 1096 ford F-150. Starts and runs fine but uses only the battery. Naturally, when the battery goes down the truck dies do you know what is wrong with it?

Either your alternator is shot or you need a new battery than can take a charge

Alternator

Probably need an alternator but check the belt first.

  • Why won't my car start after shutting down on highway? My car shut down while driving on the highway. I tried to turn it back on but it won't start. It cranks but won't start. The battery is fine. The fuel pump is fine. I think the distributor cap isn't getting power. Can it be the ignition module? Its a 1994 ford tempo lx with 70k miles on it.
  • I have a 1994 ford ranger and my tempature gauge is constintly going up and down? When I drive the temperature gauge will rise up above the half way point and then it will go down Almost all the way and will just keep doing that until I turn off the truck. Anyone know what could be the cause of this?
  • 1996 mustang gt immediately dies? I'm looking to buy this gt 5speed but when we go to start it up it just dies. We can rev it a little but it won't idle. We disconnected the alternator thinking maybe a short but no luck. The original catetaker is nolonger around so we can't ask him. Does anyone else have this problem? If so help me out because i'm going to get this car for pretty cheap if it's a quick fix
  • High Revs on highway normal? I have a 2002 Ford Focus ZTS with the DOHC Zetec engine. I was just wondering if having the motor run at about 3000 RPMs going 70 mph is normal and if this is hurting the engine? It just seems really high, especially when it down shifts and goes to about 4700 RPM when I go up some hils. Also, where is the red line on this engine? The cluster doesn't indicate where it is.
