In the state of texas, does my 1984 ford f150 need catalytic converters?
I have heard that year was the deadline and I heard it was the starting year and that some inspection places believe that 1984 doesn't need them and others believe it does.
Only if the car was originally manufactured that way. Many Canadian cars didn't have cats and if you bought one and brought it to the states you could register it legally.
Yes. And it needs a set of big horns mounted on the hood and a rifle rack, too.
If the vehicle came from the factory with a catalytic converter, then it needs one.
If it didn't, it doesn't need one. I believe your vehicle came with one.
All light trucks by 1984 sold for use in the US ofA were required to use catalytic convertors, the emissions label under the hood will list it…
Yes. Regardless of state, a vehicle built after 1975 MUST have a catalytic converter to be legally driven in the United States. Hope this helps!
- How much does the dmv charge you to change the license plate state? I just bought a Ford Mustang 2007 that has its plates from Nevada. Around how much is the average cost to change license plates to California.
- Do I need a catalytic converter? I have a 2000 Mustang Ford V6 3.8L I looked under the car and I did not see 1 catalytic converter, I saw some pictures supposedly I has 4? But mine just has 2 long pipes that just go from the engine to the mufflers and then exhaust pipe. It smells like gasoline when I start up the car. Will this damage anything?
- Does dealership do inspections (not state inspections), if so what do it usually include and cost? I'm going going of the state and I want to make sure my vehicle is in good condition. Its a 2004 Ford Explorer with about 108,000 miles. I'm wondering if dealerships do inspections. Not the state inspections or the little inspection that they do with oil changes. If so, what do it usually included and do they usually take it for a little drive as well?
