Ford Truck Owners: Which truck should I buy?
I have my choice of 2 Ford trucks. I'm just wondering, based on these descriptions, which one you think would last longer and would be more beneficial to me. Thanks!
First Ford pickup is a 1981 F100 Lariat automatic with a 8' foot bed, 300 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder engine with new tires and original motor and transmission. It has 116,000 original miles.
Next is a 2001 Ford F150 Lariat Supercrew shortbed with new tires, original motor and transmission and it has 108,000 miles on it.
Both bodies are straight and interior is very clean. I don't know much about Ford's so I'm coming to you guys to help me a little.
Also, both trucks are the same price.
Parts are still available for the '81 and you can do all the work you'd ever need without having to deal with computers and codes.
The straight 6 had more torque than the 302 V-8.
I like the old stuff. I have an '83 and do all the work myself. If I drop a wrench, it falls out under the truck. These new vehicles, you can drop something in the engine bay and may never see it again.
My '83 has 368,000 miles on it.
Each has it's own issues in my opinion I would go with the later modal better technology. It has ODB2 computer lot easier to work with. I have a 99 F-150 Lariat have never had any trouble it pulls my 6000lb trailer with no trouble 5.4 motor has a lot of torque on the bottom end. Also parts on that older one are getting harder to get my brother had a 91 bronco parts for that were starting to get tough to get.
The 2001 has 20 years less wear and tear on it so its probably the way to go, although you will get less mpg than the 6 banger. The ford 6-300ci. Is a real work horse that was produced for many years. I have never heard a bad word against it…
- Truck owners, Ford, Chevy or Dodge? I'm looking to get a truck within the next year or two. It doesn't need to be brand new, and I'm not using it for major hauling, but for full bed use and possibly a cart extension of some sort. which is the best truck out there for regular civilian transportation, nothing commercial related?
- Which classic car should I buy? 1.68-70 Dodge Charger 2.68-70 Plymouth Road Runner 3.67-70 Ford Mustang Resto-Mod. Restore the car to a working point, but not not factory spec. Just enough.
- Which of these cars should I buy? I live in a city with bad winters, if that matters. I'm considering: Hyundai Elantra Honda Civic Toyata Corrolla Mazda3 Ford Focus Chevy Cruze Volkswagon Jetta What do you think would be best? Looking for something that is fun to drive and also reliable
- Which car to potentially buy and which 2 avoid? Toyota Matrix 2009 93k miles -$5,000 Honda Civc 2009 53k miles -$5500 Ford focus 2014 97k miles -$5000 When I get the car do they just sign the title over and I pay, that's it? Or.
