A yellow light ABS turn on on my 2002 F-150, what does tnis mean? How can I fix it?
I took my pickup for a wheel aliment, when I went for it the yellow ABS light was turn on in my dash board, I disconnected the battery to reset the system, the ABS light went off for a while but came back on a few minutes later, took it back to the place, but they couldn't find the problem.
I know I should take it to the Ford dealer, could there be something I could do first?
ABS is the anti lock brake system. If they did an alignment chances are they damaged something or did not reset a sensor properly. I would take it back and insist they look at it again. Any decent shop should be able to diagnose an ABS light. If this happened at my shop my foreman would not give me any more jobs until I figured it out. They should diagnose and fix it for free. The chances of it being a coincidence are very slim. The only way you could do something on your own is if you have a scanner and can get the code that is causing the light.
In some cases they could have knocked one of the wheel speed sensors loose or the wiring when they made the adjustment. I'd take it back to who ever did the alignment and find out.
But as the other poster stated, there's a code you can pull which would save a whole lot of hassle.
In some cases it could be just a coincidence and you need to check the resistance on each wheel sensor.
4x4 = 300 to 500 ohms // 2 wheel drive should be 2000-4000 ohms.
Or just take it to a shop that does brake work and ask them to read the codes only and tell you what is wrong.
ABS Anti-Lock-Brakes go see If there's a code.
- 2003 ford taurus ses sedan 3.0L OHV (vin: U) Loose fuel cap warning light (yellow light)? My "loose fuel cap warning light" is on inside my car. I had the gas cap replaced and no codes show up on the OBDII scan tool. What could cause the light to stay on?
- What's wrong with my 2002 Ford Mustang ABS light bulb? I own a 2002 Ford Mustang and recently I was replacing my ABS light bulb but the bulb I put in won't work. I turn the car on and let it run it's self test and the ABS light doesn't turn on. It won't turn on during self-test or after, it's as if the ABS light bulb is pulled out but I just put a new one in there? And the old bulb doesn't work either now. Do I need a new bulb? Or when a bulb is removed does it break the speedometer? Do I need a new speedometer now?
- 2006 Ford Mustang with ABS light and TCS light. What do I do? I recently got an 06 Mustang with an ABS light and TCS light on. I had it checked out just by a quick view. The guy does not believe my hub assembly or bearings are bad. I replaced the ABs sensor and it still did not seem to help. When I had it scanned the computer said it is the passenger rear ABS. I have no grinding, no noises, no issues driving, but I want to fix it properly. Does anyone have any ideas on what steps to take now?
