Which is a better Subwoofer box. Bandpass or a normal ported box?

Okay so i'm buying a sound system for my Ford Explorer i'm going to get 2 12 inch subs 600 rms each ( Pioneer Champion Series Ts-w3003d4 ) 4 mids and also 4 tweeters but will only use 2 and my friend told me about a bandpass box and he said he has never hard any subs sound better then being in the bandpass box so please let me know what yall think also i listen to rap dubstep and reggae music most of the time

A bandpass box is one of the best types of box out there. It's like a combination of both a ported and enclosed box. It will be perfect for any genre especially reggae.

I would say your friend has very little actual knowledge regarding car audio or sound quality.

Bandpass boxes CAN sound decent, but that's not even their purpose. Mainly, they exist because they are very efficient. So a cheap sub and cheap amp can produce a decent amount of volume on a low budget. They are a hit among the high school crowd.
For them to sound decent they have to be specifically designed for a given sub -- and they rarely get that treatment.
Ported boxes are similar in that they should be specifically built for a given sub. However, there's a range of box/port size ported enclosures that are semi-universal and should work reasonably well for a variety of subs.

In general, between the two I think ported would be your best bet.
