Where are the sway bar bushings on a 1999 ford explorer?
Where are the sway bar bushings on a 1999 ford explorer?
There are two different sets of bushings on each sway bar. Where the bar attaches to the truck frame & the second set are on the end links where the bar attaches to the suspension. Neither are hard to replace.
Click the link below for diagrams and bushing removal/installation procedure.Look at the 2nd diagram on the page because the 1st diagram is for other year models.#4 Is the stabilizer bar(swaybar)end link and bushing and #6 and #7 Is the swaybar bushing and bracket. The vehicle will handle better around curves if you install polyurethane/urethene bushings instead of soft rubber oem bushings. You can get them at any part store like Autozone, etc. Its a good ideal to dab a little bit of grease on the bushings so suspension movement won't cause any squeaks. Here's that link.

- Torsion bar lift worth it? I have a 2004 ford ranger 4x4 xlt and i don't like the way it sits. Like most other pickups its angled towards the front and i don't really like that. I have heard about twisting the torsion bars to raise the front end up, but i have no idea how to do it. So i guess my question is: Is it worth doing? Can i do it myself? And what's a safe distance to raise it? I have heard that if raised to far it can cause things to wear early. Any information on this helps a ton!
