Weird issue with 1996 Ford Explorer OHV V6?

I have an automatic 1996 Ford Explorer OHV V6 (2WD with 4WD low and high settings) with 459k miles, it was originally my grandfathers and it's been a really great car in terms of reliability except as of recent there's an issue nobody has been able to explain. When I fill up the gas tank the needle stops at the 3/4 mark and when I go to turn the ignition the engine turns over but it will not turn on until about 2 hours passes by. If I fill the tank to about 2/3 to 3/4 full or less it will start immediately. No mechanic has been able to solve this issue, what could it possibly be? Would it be worth fixing?

Explain in more detail please.

  • What starters would be compatible with a 2002 Ford Taurus SES V6 - 3.0L vin U 182ci - MFI GAS OHV? I'm trying to save money through purchasing a starter online instead of getting one at an auto parts store. What are some websites where I can get a cheap and compatible starter for under $75?
  • 2004 ford taurus 3.0L v6 OHV spark plug firing order? 2004 ford taurus 3.0l v6 ohv engine firing order? I'm very new to the car world for starters, so bear with me. I was wondering what the firing order is for my 2004 Ford Taurus 3.0L-V6 OHV engine? And also, how do i read the firing order? I understand cable one will go to slot one on the coil but where do the spark plug end of the cables go? Ie, does it go in the front of the engine in the middle or right side? Any help is greatly appreciated!
