I have a 1997 Ford Explorer, haven't drove for a year. What can I do?
I recently received a 1997 Honda Explorer from my father in law. I changed the battery to a Duralast Gold, didn't start. I put 2 gallons of gas and tried putting in starter fluid, still no start. I have no idea what else I can do?
Like vehicles that have been sitting for decades the first step to get it started is to drop the fuel tank to empty out the rancid gasoline then as the tank is out the rest of the fuel system has to be flushed before the tank itself is flushed. As the tank is put back in and filled with fresh gasoline. Other ways to get it started is to move to the engine compartment and replace all the spark plugs and at the same time check the plug wires for any signs of damage and replace any that are bad.
- If you have enough money, can you have a new classic car built? Like can I pay to have ford build me a 1970 Mustang? Lets say I don't want to buy an old car and restore it, I want a 1970 but straight off the factory line. Can you have a car built with the old style frame, engine, trans, etc?
