How to drain gas from a car?

I have a 2002 ford explorer sport 4.0 I'm trying to drain the gas because the car has been sitting for along time and i replaced the fuel filter then it started now it doesn't wanna start anymore so i think the filter got clogged again. Is there anyway to drain the gas from the gas tank without taking the gas tank down?

Hook 12v up to the fuel pump with a gas line popped off into a gas can.

Don't let it run for more than a second or two when it sputters on low.

Or, drop tank and drain manually.

How old is the gas? I've run gas that was a couple years old on old Fords and haven't had an issue.

There's an in line fuel filter, if that's clogged, just replace it. If the mesh filter on the fuel pump inlet is clogged, I would recommend dropping the tank and clean it out and service the filter that's there too.
Before you go through all that, did you check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail?

You can siphon the gas out with some 1/4" or 3/8" vinyl hose.

If it really did plug the filter that fast the tank will have to come out and be professionally cleaned or replaced.

You can pull the line off the filter and jump the fuel pump relay. It's under the hood in fuse/relay box http://www.bing.com/...ajaxhist=0 Pull the relay and look at the schematic, you want to close the open "door". A metric relay jumps 30 to 87. Use a u shaped wire or heavy paper clip. But I would pull the filter off and empty on newspaper to see what came out.
