2005 Jeep Cherokee OR 2010 Ford Explorer to tow boat cross country?
I need help choosing my next vehicle. I will be moving from VA to CO in a month, which means that I will be towing my 18ft Bowrider that whole way. Currently I'm looking at a 2005 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with 116,000 miles priced at 8500, and also a 2010 Ford Explorer with 113,000 miles for 7500. Which would be the wiser more reliable choice? Any other vehicles I should be considering in that price range?
Any vehicle with an engine capacity of over 2 litre will do it
Keep your present vehicle and sell the boat and buy another one that's more practical for use in Colorado when you get there. That's if you're not moving to SW Colorado where you'll have access (if you call 100+ miles "access") to decent water for that type of boat.
I wouldn't touch either of those vehicles. Find a 2006-2010 Nissan Frontier King Cab 4wd. You'll probably NEVER need repairs if you do basic maintenance. I've had two, put over 200,000 on each with zero problems, and they can tow like nobody's business. If you sell the boat you can afford one.

- Should I get a Ford Ranger, or a Jeep Cherokee (XJ)? I'm shopping for a 1st car. I can't deside if I want to get a Ford Ranger or Jeep Cherokee! What do you think is better, and why? I would use my car for offroading, daily transportation, hauling wood to my camp, hunting, etc. I have a budget of around $3,000. I plan on keeping this car for a long time.
- Ford Ranger or Jeep Cherokee? Which 4X4 would be better as a daily driver, transporting drums and guitars to gigs, and towing a 26ft airstream occasionally? I need a truck or SUV that is reliable, cheap to maintain, and built to last. I live in the UK, and don't have much choice because the bigger American trucks like the Ram or Silverado are hard to find over here
- Random question. Ford focus 2005 ways to open boat. So far only way I can open mine if I press the boat button on key? Is their another way e.g. Out key in door car lock turn it certain way? Is their button inside the car. I've looked but havnt found one
- Is a Ford F-150 3.7 v6 a good choice to tow 4500lb ski boat? My boat weighs 3300 and the trailer is about 1200lbs, so roughly 4500lbs total. I'm looking at a regular cab 4x4 f150 with a 3.7 v6, 3.73 axle ratio. It is rated tow 5800lbs. Thoughts? Is it suitable to tow that much?
