2001 explorer sport trac. Oil pressure dropped and then car died out

I recently bought a 2001 ford explorer sport trac ( 4.0 liter v6. Also has an overhead cam shaft). It turned over and ran when I bought it but barely. The guy said it needed a new belt and o2 sensor. Gave the guy money and he drove off and then went to start it and "click" the starter went out. Replaced the starter and got it started. Half way home the oil pressure dropped and the car died out. I was in the truck behind it because my dad had to bring tools and such. He was driving it when it went out and I was behind him. He had me get in and he rammed me home. When I got in I noticed some white smoke coming out of the passenger side of the hood. The car was off but he still pushed it home while I steered. When we finally got it home we took a closer look. The car of course wouldn t start up. His exact text when he looked at it was "I'm home. Oil is full. Starter is hooked up. Engine is locked up." I have no idea what is wrong with it and would like some help figuring it out. It's been a rough couple of weeks with this thing and I'm hoping there's some hope for it.

If the engines locked up it's dead throw it away

Apparently no one had a mechanic do a pre purchase inspection, right? That $ 100 or so would have been cheap compared to several thousand for a rebuilt engine… You can have a mobile mechanic look at the engine now, but…

Hi all symptoms of a destroyed engine. So that guy was lucky he off loaded his old truck before it blew up. Now it needs a new or overhauled engine.

Let me put this in words that are so simple that even YOU should be able to understand… YOUR CAR IS BROKEN! Take it to a REAL mechanic who can actually look at the car, diagnose the problem and MAYBE even come up with a way to fix what's wrong.

Sounds pretty straightforward. The oil pump failed, engine seized from lack of lubrication. If that's indeed what happened, the engine is junk now. It's also possible a head gasket blew completely and coolant got into the cylinders and the engine was hydrolocked, if that happened, then the engine is also junk.

Sounds like it can easily be fixed by installing a different engine.
