What is this cable called and is it related to the A/C problem I'm having with my car?
The car is a 1997 Ford Expedition, so its no surprise the cable is old and broken. I need to find a connective piping to reattach them, but have no idea what its called or what size to order and if it's related to the A/C issue I'm having. Thanks!
Sine it's not easy to see where that is, I suggest you start by taking a photo of that area to a parts store, if not the vehicle itself, then if need be, go to a Ford dealer
Clean it up really good and wipe it quick with acetone, then use an appropriate vac rated tubing to reconnect it.
Carefully glue the new vacuum splice hose with marine grade shoe-goo rubber cement and clamp very lightly.
That line would be very expensive to replace if it feeds vacuum to the environmental control heat/ac actuators.
That really looks like it might be a vacuum hose but it's impossible to tell from a picture. Anywy vacuum hoses are sold by the foot and are way cheap. Take the car to a parts store and let them see if they can determine what it is. If it is a vacuum hose, like I said they're cheap.
Drive the car to an auto parts store, pop the hood, and have them look at the hose you are talking about. To me it looks like a vacuum hose but it may not be. They will help you out.
What is your AC doing? Is the clutch not engaging? Not really sure what the item is but you can remove the whole harness and get it fixed at a garage or get a whole new harness at a junkyard.
I doubt that is even your problem.
If the AC compressor won't engage jump the low pressure switch to see if the AC compressor works.
If it works add a can of 134a that has the o-ring sealant in it.
Hi so yes most likely you need a new one.
You need to repair that because it is a vac line and vac leaks are bad for vehicles. It may help your AC or it may not. Good luck with your 20 year old AC. Your going to need it.
- Car acceleration problem and idle problem. The car is a 2003 Ford Taurus? . When the car is running and in parked its making a loud consisted rev noise. However the rpm needle thingy is not moving. when i'm in drive the car acclerates on its own with the speed ever increasing. i did some googling and learned that it can be the TPS sensor or the idle air intake valve, among a million other possiblities.

- I have a ford mondeo that had broken down. I called AA and they ran it through their computer and it said fuel sensor problem. I went to a? Garage and they replaced the fuel sensor. I drove up the street and the car broke down again. Plugged it in at the garage and it said fuel sensor fault. The garage then took that fuel sensor out and put it back in the car it was from and it was working. What could be the problem?
