Why are my brake lights turning on randomly?
Ford escape 01
Vehicle was off in park with handbrake on, lights were set to off, car i would press the brake pedal to turn it off but the light would still come on. Also my oil light has been blinking on and off randomly, engine sounds fine, oil is full.
Added (1). by, come on, I mean the light would go out for a sec after i released the pedal then come back on, i disconnected the battery
May be two issues;
The brake light switch and the oil pressure sender.
Try pulling up on your brake pedal.

Oil sender
Try lifting up on the brake pedal and see if the light goes off and stays off. If it does then you've either got a return spring or a vacuum cylinder problem. If it still stays on the brake light switch is probably bad. As to the oil light, you need to have a mechanic connect a gauge in place of the sending unit to make sure the oil pressure is correct. If it is replace the sending unit. If the pressure is low or fluctuating then the oil pump needs to be replaced.
- Why would you think my 2008 Ford H 53 chassis Motor home engine randomly cut off and the ABS light come on? Ford Triton V10 when heading up a hill sometimes the engine will cut out and the ABS light on the dash comes on and goes out. The engine continues to run and we get home just fine. Seems like power is getting cut off or something.
- Why are my blink lights / brake lights working? I have a 72 Ford f100 and the rear left turn signal, brake ligh, hazard light isn't working. The light workings for "running lights " but does not blink or light up when I press the brake. I replaced the bulb. I don't know where to start
- BRAKE light in my '02 ford ranger blinks on and off sometimes. Brake is disengaged. Any thoughts? The BRAKE light in my '02 ford ranger blinks on and off sometimes. Brake is disengaged… Any thoughts?
- 99 Ford ranger XLT base model. Park lights, dash lights, and license plates lights out I checked online and realized it was probably a fuse which it is. Fuse 11 in my power distribution box. The problem is I keep replacing at and soon as I turn on my lights it blows instantly. Have replaced it multiple times. So then I looked under my truck and disconnected the wiring to my taillights and replaced the fuse, it worked it didn't blow. Dash lights and license plates lights were on so I figured some where there's a problem with the brake lights. Any suggestions?
