What is wrong with my 2005 ford escape?
I bought my car in the end of may (2014) and everything my went fine until about the end of november (no snow at that time). I was driving on the highway about 55-60mph and the "check brake system" & "service 4WD" flashed on the computer. My brakes went to the floor and bucked back at me. Towed it to my mechanic and he replaced the front axel and a sensor. All was well for about a week and a half until I got in my car, pressed on the brake and it went down to the floor once again. This time the brake line had snapped and was spewing brake fluid. Again, towed it to my mechanic and he replaced the brake line. A couple days later on my way to work the "check brake system" & "service 4WD" flashed again, bucking brakes and all. Needless to say it was, for the third time, towed to my mechanic and took 2 weeks to diagnose. Supposedly the replaced sensor was a dud and was replaced with a new one of a different brand. I've had my car back for less than 24 hours and my brakes don't feel quite right. They are faintly bucking as the brake is applied and they aren't as bad as the previous times and there's no indication as far as the computer goes as to there being a problem. I thought it might be due to a tiny bit of sliding around corners from a fresh snow this morning but later in the day even on clean and clear streets and highways I still felt it. I don't know if this is me being paranoid because of past problems but if anyone has had this issue and fixed it, please let me know.
Have your mechanic check all the ABS tone rings on the CV shafts very, very carefully for cracks. They were known for cracking when corrosion underneath them expanded and broke them. You can buy them separately without having to get a complete axle.
Take it to the dealership… You can take this FORD and shove it.
The vibration in the brake pedal may be from warped discs or glazed spots on the discs (both are rare to occur) I would almost say there was brake fluid on the disc pads and the pads have not been cleaned of the fluid. It is kind of a "slip, catch, slip, catch" as the wheel rotates. Brake pads should be dry and clean of all grease or oils.
- What's now wrong with my 2005 Ford 500? 2005 Ford 500 was running fine until Ford dealer did an oil change, replaced air filter and tried to sell me $1000 more "services". Since then it has slight to severe hiccups when hitting brakes and/or when going down the road, especially on small hills.
- 2005 VW Golf 1.6 or 2005 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 2005? First car for a 17 year old who has just passed his licence. Both cost similar amounts for purchase and for insurance.
- 2010 ford fusion se 4 cylinder 2005 dodge stratus sxt 2.7 v6 Or 2005 ford expedition 5.4 v8? What one would you choose and why? I have a choice from these three and don't know, all are in decent shape and all need a little bit of work done (all easy work) all are available and are family vehicles. So the easy work hasn't been done because it's not entirely important.
