( it jults when when it shifts going slow but in the freeway it perfect) And needs a new battery a good deal? I'm getting it from a friend for $600 
Sure. If all else, you can scrap it for about $200.
Well if your lucky its low on fluid. Check level and refill if low then find and repair the leak. If full then you might need a transmission. Throw 400 at him and see if he'll take it
Can you afford $3000 for a tranny - so that would bring the price up to 3600. KBB says that model, yr vehicle in EXCELLENT condition would be worth < 3000 - see how this is NOT working out in your favor - even if it was given to you it wouldn't be worth it.
A rebuilt E4OD will run about $2000. You can get a junkyard transmission for less, but there's no guarantee that it will work. From a financial standpoint, this really isn't a good deal. Especially if this truck has high miles
