How those the Thermal Fan Clutch works on a ford 350 1997?
It has a bimetal coil in a bath of heavy silicone oil - the bimetal makes it regulate and the oil produces the clutch action. The life span of those is short, usually because the oil leaks out. With the engine cold and off, try spinning the fan by hand. If it stops in 1/4 turn or less it is working right. If it spins more than a revolution it is useless.
