Diesel truck owners, how much does fuel cost per week for you?

I want to buy a 2001 ford f250 diesel and I'm trying to figure out what it will cost per week in fuel ups.
How much does it cost you per week?
How many gallons do you get to the mile
How many times a week do you have to fill up?
Hopefully you guys are in a ford f250 so it will help me out more. Or at least an 01 diesel. I figure i would get 17mpg. And I tried to get a ruff estimate of howany miles I will drive per week and I think I got 365miles per week. Thanks! Fuel around her is right around $4.05-$4.10 I think. Haven't checked in a good while tho.

Divide the 365 by 17 and multiply by 4.10. 88 dollars…

100 bucks a week

Your driving habits have nothing to do with my fuel cost. With your numbers, you'll use about 21.5 gal per week, about $80-$100 / wk. It appears that fuel costs are based upon the number of BTUs per gallon.

More details:

Gasoline has about 114,000 BTUs per gallon
Diesel #2 has about 129,000 BTUs per gallon
Biodiesel B20 has about 127,000 BTUs per gallon
Biodiesel B100 has about 118,000 BTUs per gallon.

If you do a cost comparison of the different fuels, you'll find that the fuel cost per mile driven is about equal. In my area, diesel fuel is about 10% higher priced than regular gasoline. If you add 10% to the BTU of gasoline, you get about 126,000 BTUs. Understand diesel fuel is taxed at a different rate than gasoline, so that affects the cost comparison. A gasoline equivalent of a diesel truck will probably get fewer miles per gallon, so that adds to the fuel cost per mile for a gasoline vehicle.

Then the cost of maintenance for diesels is more than for a gasoline engine vehicle.

So, it's not just fuel cost per mile. You have to consider the total lifetime cost to operate a diesel vs gasoline vehicle.
