1999 ford f350 with 7.3 or 2006 f350 with the infamous 6.0? People that know about diesel would be AMAZING?

So i need a work truck and i'm a full beginner to the diesel world but i've set my eyes on ford. I found this beautiful ford lariat 2006 from a corner dealer for 12k with 186k miles. Now i heared diesels tend to last longer than gas. Anyways i started doing research on it and boy was i in for a surprise. Found out that the 6.0 that comes with that truck is apparently garbage junk. But everyone says if you are going to get one then get the later models which the 06 is since they fixed a few issues. Then i read about bulletproofing the 6.0 at the cost of about $5k. Now i was leaning on this but i found a 1999 ford f350 with the 7.3 which everyone loves for 7k off an individual who has a lot of paper work. The thing is the 7.3 has 380k miles. Will the truck handle the use?

fyi i don't plan to do extreme pulls just some car hauls and some cargo probably like 2 times a week and not that far.

should i go with the 2006 lariat 4 door dually 6.0 with 187,000 miles
or
should i go with the 1999 lariat 4 door dually 7.3 with 380,000 miles

380 is a lot even for a diesel. Ask if the 7.3 guy has rebuilt the engine and replaced chassis parts.

One of the problems with the 6.0 is the turbo. Ford though it would increase the HP if they kept the turbo as close to the exhaust ports as possible so the exhaust gasses would not have time to cool down and lose volume which would cut the performance of the turbo. Well To me it doesn't seem like it would make much difference but they stuffed the turbo right up under the intake manifold and that keeps the heat on the turbo and that causes the seals to fail. Did you know to replace the turbo they need to jack up the cab of the truck to get to it? That and the fact the injection system has it's own problems with high pressure pumps bad O-rings and injector tubes, well I guess you can see I'm not liking the 6.0. The 7.3 is much simpler but the mileage is at rebuild point and it is not a linnered block and it may need to be bored out for rebuild. That will cost you. So I would recommend you look in a different direction for your transportation needs.
