1972 FORD F-250 IGNITION/STARTING PRIOBLEM?

Recently rebuilt the carb and changed the valve gaskets. Running great, driving down the street when suddenly it dies. Replaced the Rotor, Distributor Cap, Ignition Coil, New ignitor from Pertronix (previous owner replaced the condenser and points), and new wires and plugs. Still not starting and there doesn't seem to be an spark getting to the ditributor.

Points. You might pull the cap and make sure the distrib is turning

Sonny obviously doesn't realize that the Pertronix uses a sensor and not points. Instead of throwing parts at something troubleshoot and determine where the problem is. I'd check to make sure the Pertronix unit is getting voltage. Those old Fords use a resistive wire in the under dash harness to drop the ignition voltage to 6 volts. During starting that is bypassed by contacts in the starter solenoid on the passenger side fender so that the ignition gets a full 12 volts. The Pertronix requires a full 12 volts constantly so the wiring has to be circumvented somewhat. Get a meter and make sure the voltage is there.

As Mustanger suggest, kindly do. Also consider that Pertronix unit make be bad out of the box. I bought one for a 1968 Ford Galaxie 390V8, Bypassed the resistor wire properly. It started once and died the next day. Bought an Accel unit. It has never failed,. Even after I drove the car 4 years and sold.

You may momentarily bypass the resistor wire by direct wire from solenoid to ignition. It should fire up. If I recall correctly? The resistor wire is red and white at the switch. Permanently by pass by taking off the red.white wire and run a new wire to ignition
