Driving on freeway revs raised and car slowed down?
2005 ford torus auto was driving on freeway and started to rev but slow down no warning sign that tranny was going bad Fluid lvl looks fine i was litarly driving and the revs went up and i slowed down no clunk no sound no warning nothing
auto shifter slides right between all the gears prnd12 with no resistance
Does it have to give warning signs before it fails?
No its been driving fine
It sounds like it might be transmission slip. That would cause the engine to rev up as the engine would no longer be engaged with the drive train (similar to being in neutral). There are additives on the market that claim to stop slipping, but these are only temporary fixes. A slipping transmission can only be fixed truly by rebuilding or replacing the trans.
Clutch slipping
Trans is slipping. Start with checking the fluid level.
- What are the chances that Christine Ford's car breaks down while driving from California to Washington DC and it delays the hearing? Another day or two so Kavanaugh can't be confirmed and join the court on October 1 the beginning of the next Supreme Court session?
- Is it safe to drive a ford ranger on the freeway for long trips? Can a ford ranger safely sustain speeds of 85-90 mph without any problems at all? I'm looking for a pickup truck that can haul stuff and is good for driving off roaming occasionally but I also what a pickup that has good performance as well. My question is can a 2007 ford ranger XLT 4.0 v6 5 speed manual sustain speeds of 85-90 mph or is that pushing the limits of this truck?
- Car revs to 1000 RPM then drops when idling? My car sputters, and noisily revs up to 1000 RPM then drops to about 500 RPM and then revs up to 1000 RPM again. It takes about 10 seconds each time to do this. The car shakes a little and worsens each cycle the longer I have to sit at a light. There's no Check Engine light on. None of the lights on the dashboard are on. It's a little automatic 2002 Ford Focus ZX3. I know there could be numerous problems, but could anyone happen to guess what it could be?
- Gear juddering in 2nd and excess revs? I have ordered my car brand new in June and now i experience gear grinding noise and second gear shakes when driving slowly. The car is a 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Powershift/Auto and has covered over 2000 miles now.
